Robert McBride
Vice President
Brooklyn-born Robert McBride has been in motion and has been creating motion for his entire career. He has been a vice president with Park Strategies since 2003.
As entrepreneur, manager and, ultimately, seller of businesses, he offers first-hand experience and counsel to client companies, which include those in transportation, real estate, pharmaceuticals, security services, waste management and healthcare. He also advises federal, state and local governments on transportation issues.
Mr. McBride began as a limousine driver on Long Island, where he depended on referrals from a local taxicab company. At 23, he bought into the 26-vehicle taxi company. He upgraded equipment, improved service, developed a professional sales force, launched a direct marketing campaign and went head-to-head with the airport limousine services. By the time he sold the company to publicly held Coach USA in 2000, his fleet had grown to over 400 vehicles. "Creating a competitive advantage in a heavily-regulated industry is an incredible challenge," he says.
Following the sale, Mr. McBride continued for 2 1/2 years with Coach USA, the largest transportation company in the United States, running the company's operations in the Northeast.
"I find myself speaking a kind of ‘short-hand' with my clients," Mr. McBride says. "Because I've had to jump over many of the same financial, political and regulatory hurdles that they face, my learning curve is often quite short, and the solutions I recommend tend to be practical and straightforward. The consulting business doesn't need to be mysterious. And the solutions don't need to be complicated. They just need to work."
With a strong belief that a key element of business success is a commitment to community service, Robert has served on the board of numerous philanthropies including the United Way, Leukemia Society, and Board of Governors for The Friendly sons of St. Patrick and Helen Keller Services for the Blind. He is currently a Board Member of the Nassau County Law Enforcement Advisory Board. He is Past Chairman of the Board of the Education and Assistance Corporation, and past President of Mineola Lions Club. Over the last decade Robert has been honored by such organizations as: Irish American in Government, Helen Keller Services of the Blind, Circula de la Hispanidad, Inc., Education and Assistance Corporation, NCFJE of Long Island, and United Way of Long Island. Robert was made "Man of the Year" for the NCPD Emerald Society in 1999, and was also the Irishman of the year in 2005 by The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.
Mr. McBride studied Business Administration at the State University of New York.
He and his wife, Marion, have three grown children, and live in Dix Hills.
