Vito FossellaCongressman Vito Fossella joined Park Strategies as a Managing Director in 2010 and brings our clients almost 25 years of leadership and expertise in government policy, legislative relations, and strategic planning in both the public and private sector.
Congressman Fossella represented New York in the United States House of Representatives from 1997 to 2009. After his term in Congress, Mr. Fossella became the Chief Operating Officer of Superfund, USA, a registered broker/dealer specializing in managed futures.
While in Congress, he served as a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which is the principal committee with jurisdiction over telecommunications, energy, health care, and environmental policies. Mr. Fossella served as Vice-Chairman of the Environment and Hazardous Material Subcommittee. He served as a member of the Telecommunications and Internet Subcommittee, and the Energy and Air Quality Subcommittee.
Mr. Fossella was a member of the House Financial Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over banking, insurance, securities and exchanges, housing and monetary policy. During his tenure, he served on the Financial Institution and Consumer Credit Subcommittee as well as the Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee.
Mr. Fossella played key roles in the passage of the Terrorism Risk Protection Act to provide a federal backstop for terrorism risk for commercial insurance after 9/11 and the anti-money laundering title of the USA Patriot Act. In addition, Mr. Fossella served on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. While in Congress, Mr. Fossella backed pro-business, low-tax, pro-competition and free trade positions to encourage strong economic growth. In addition, as Co-Chairman of the Korean Caucus, Mr. Fossella fostered stronger relations between the United States and Korea and attempted to secure ratification of the Korean – U.S. Free Trade Agreement. He also served as Chairman of the United States– Italian Inter – Parliamentary Exchange Group to promote better economic and political relations between the U.S. and Italy.
Before being elected to the House of Representatives, Mr. Fossella served in the New York City Council, representing Staten Island.
Mr. Fossella also worked as a Management Consultant for the multi-national accounting, tax and consulting firm of Deloitte and Touche.
Mr. Fossella received a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; a J. D. from Fordham University School of Law and an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Wagner College. He lives in Staten Island, N.Y.
